Specifications

MPDD+

Multiple monitor support

Several features of the MPDD+ ensure that you won't miss out on anything your monitor can display, no matter if it is the latest and greatest model, or even a 10 year old 12" Apple fixed-frequency monitor which now is collecting dust. MPDD+ brings it back to life.

The MPDD+ supports the following groups of monitors without adapters:

  • 17XX AV. (Mac tagging is supported to use the original Apple software controls)
  • Apple legacy (Mac sensing is supported on the "two rows" old style Mac video connector)
  • Studio Displays (Mac tagging is supported on the VGA connector)
  • VGA monitors
  • Old VGA monitors using any VGA cable (the MPDD does not misinterpret wrong VGA cables as Mac legacy monitors)
  • Apple 13" b/w and Apple portrait monitors (c-sync is supported)
  • Fixed-frequency Apple monitors

Deep Sleep

MPDD+ supports the Deep Sleep Mode provided with the latest Mac OS X versions.

Gamma correction

Adjust the color levels according to both your needs and the color calibration system, thus ensuring colors on two separate displays match.

Mac OS X

MPDD+ supports Mac OS X 10.1.x without any software to install.

Colorful appearance

Displaying Millions of colors up to 1024x768 @ 75Hz (Apple 19" resolution) and thousands of colors up to 1600x1200 @ 60Hz.

Flexible resolutions

A large list of supported resolutions to match almost any monitor (from 12" to 21") and your needs from 320x200 pixels up to 1600x1200 pixels. (see chart below)

Dynamic Desktop Doubler Resolutions

MPDD+ offers a unique feature - Dynamic Desktop Doubler Resolutions. Desktop Doubler gives you quick access to a larger desktop than the size of the monitor. And "Dynamic" means that you only see the resolutions that makes sense for the settings and monitor you're using.

Multiple scan rate support

Each resolution is displayed with a choice of appropriate scan rates. Any monitor will work at its optimum when used with MPDD+. Refresh rates span the gamut from 25Hz TV interlaced mode to 160Hz.

Acceleration

The MPDD+ graphic card specializes in supporting 2D operations. Under Mac OS 9, a single System Extension does the job while no software is needed for Mac OS X 10.1.

No Fan

No noise, no hassles, no breakage.

Standard video connectors

Benchmarking redefined

Years ago you waited on the video card to fill the monitor. Faster graphic cards meant less waiting and faster work. Today, video cards are so fast in 2D, that the card is waiting for you. Therefore faster graphic cards do not accelerate your work in desktop publishing applications such as Quark, PageMaker, Dreamweaver and other graphics applications you use every day. Thinking about how we could provide a tool that accelerates your work and makes working with your Mac more enjoyable, we discovered that it is not speed but desktop space! Screen real estate needed to hold your floating palettes, without covering the document you are working on. If you find yourself repeatedly hiding one application only to bring the other to the front, then MPDD+ is for you. MP Desktop Doubler provides the space you need to run multiple applications at the same time. So do not measure your video card with MacBench. Instead measure how much faster and easier you get your work done. By designing a video card specifically to power a second monitor, we used the most relevant criteria: low price, easy installation, best connectivity, "eye saving" refresh rates and many more.

Connection is everything

Using MPDD+ ensures that you don't miss anything your monitor can display. Whether it is the latest and greatest model, or even a10-year old 12 inch Apple fixed-frequency monitor which has been collecting dust. MPDD+ brings it back to life. No adapters are needed and that means no hassles with ugly DIP switches or losing desktop space because the adapter and monitor cable combined are a foot long!

Less is more

An optimized card design leads to less traffic and interrupt latency on the PCI bus. This means that MPDD+ is the only video card that works with digidesign ProTools, even in a fully equipped system in a Magma PCI expansion box. MPDD+ consumes only 1 Watt of power, has no fan that will wear out and cause the card to fail, no added noise, no added heat that lower at the stability of your entire Mac. Only one Extension comes with MPDD+ for 2D acceleration. Fewer Extensions mean fewer system conflicts. And last but not least, the MPDD+ costs less than other video cards.

Reactions:

"A must for developers"

As a developer I have worked on the Mac for years with two monitors, Although the Mac handles multiple monitors better than any other OS, I have experienced some inconveniences which I fixed with my own tool Desktop resetter MPDD+ is offering now ... Installation just took a minute. My old Monitor was supported by just plug and play. The higher refreshrate of MPDD+ allows me to work longer without getting tired.

I'm guessing that this is what the quote is trying to say.

"I have used two monitors on my Mac for years. While the Mac OS supports multiple monitors better than any other OS, there are still some problems with many video cards. MPDD+ is the only card that drives my monitors without workarounds and other annoyances. I can work longer, get more done and enjoy my work without overworking my eyes."
