The
PCCard Bridge is the piece of hardware that controls
and exchanges data with the PCCard cards used in
the system.
Some PCCard bridges have a known
limitation in the amount of bandwidth available for
PCCard cards. For PCCards needing a great amount
of bandwidth, like VTBook, this limitation is sometimes
noticeable.
If your notebook's PCCard bridge does not offer the full CardBus bandwidth,
VTBook will still be usable but the most bandwidth-intensive applications may
show a performance decrease.
Examples of these applications are: video playback, pivot resolutions, mirroring,
games. |
Texas Instruments: |
Used
in some Dell notebooks. Very good bridge, no noticeable
bandwidth limitation. |
Toshiba TOPIC |
Used by some Toshiba
systems. Somewhat limited bandwidth but DVD playback
is OK |
Ricoh |
Used by several
IBM systems. Somewhat limited bandwidth but DVD playback
is OK |
O2Micro |
Used by several
Acer systems. Limited bandwidth, DVD playback is
choppy |
