VTBook is an interesting product.
The combination of good hardware, great
documentation, active development and
platform flexibility make it a product
that I would not hesitate to recommend.
For people that need multiple displays
and want to use a notebook, the VTBook
is a no brainer. This product should
work with a wide array of notebooks supporting
the three major operating systems, which
is pretty smart. Science Labs running
Linux, Day Traders on Windows and Mac
users creating digital media can all
use this solution.

Overall the VTBook performs pretty
well and will appeal to thrifty CFOs
and IT managers who are looking to
stretch the value of their current
computer assets [...]
The VTBook is a useful accessory for
older notebooks that require additional
video output. Since the VT Book uses
the older Card Bus interface, it's
perfect for organizations or home business
users who are looking to stretch the
usefulness of their equipment instead
of sinking more money in a brand new
notebook. For the $250 USD price tag,
that's considerably cheaper than buying
a new computer.

Setting up the VTBook is as easy as
plugging it into your computer while
powered off and turning the computer
on. Install the included software and
you are ready to connect your additional
displays.
The VTBook is a great way for notebook
users to add additional displays to
their system to increase productivity.

The device, by and large, works like
a dream. In fact, my Windows notebook
recognized it immediately, without
installing the driver CD.
The VT Book is perfectly suited to
a mobile workstation: It's tiny, portable,
and fairly rugged, offering some protection
against the inevitable rough security
screening and baggage handling one
expects while traveling these days.

The VTBook card makes
your laptop much more versatile, both
in your office and on the road. If
you are doing a presentation on the
road and the projector can support
a better resolution than that of your
laptop screen, the VTBook card will
probably accommodate it. You can also
use up to four monitors at home and
extend the power of your laptop. But
be sure to order the extra cable, just
in case you want to run four monitors.

You’re lucky enough if you’ve got even one DVI-out on your laptop right now—Apple machines are pretty much the only ones that have it right now. So treat yourself to a few more heads on that desktop replacement lappie of yours, why don’t you?

Have you ever wanted to use two or more external monitors on that sweet little laptop of yours? I know that feeling. I have a Sony T Series portable that is very nice while I am travelling but when I arrive back at my desk I want some more desktop space.[...] After getting the card installed correctly with the right combination of monitors I could not be happier with it. I often have to refer to email messages or documents while working on servers and I am always on the Net for something so having three monitors to spread my stuff out on is truely a good thing and finally frees me of the wish to have a desktop here in the office.

My
laptop drives its internal screen and one
external screen. My VillageTronic VTBook
PC card and its dualdisplay cable powers
the other two screens. I drag windows
from one screen to the other. I have
Outlook email on one screen, a browser
on another, streaming quotes on another,
Macromedia on a fourth. I can also have
an gigantic Excel spreadsheet spread
across three monitors. The VTBook PC
Card and cable cost under $300. If you
use a laptop as your primary PC, it's
the best computer investment you can
ever make. Honestly.

My favorite gadget
is the VillageTronic PC display card
which you can see sticking out the
left side of the center laptop. This
wonderful gadget lets me run a third
screen from my laptop -- the laptop's
internal screen and two external 19" LCDs.
One screen for emails, one for this
column, one for exploring the Internet,
one for stock prices... you get the
idea. The VillageTronic is the absolute
best video gadget for a laptop because
it lets you drive screens of multiple
shapes and multiple sizes [...]

offer DVI outputs to support the latest
flat-panel LCD monitors, and virtually
none can connect to two external monitors

VTBook är
ensam om att fylla en funktion för
den som lever med Powerbooken som huvuddator
och behöver två stora skärmar
på skrivbordet. Räknar man
med Powerookens inbyggda skärm är
det möjligt att ha tre skärmar
samtidigt på sin bärbara.
|
VTBook
alone can perform this function for those
who live with a PowerBook as their main
computer and need two large monitors
on their desk. If you include in the
count the Powerbook's built in display
support, it is possible to have 3 (three)
monitors at the same time on your portable
computer. |
